This project in Arabian Ranches, Dubai, was a masterclass in using bespoke glazing to infuse a home with natural light and sophisticated, contemporary design. Moving beyond standard installations, this renovation incorporated roof lanterns and unique arched doors, creating a home defined by bold design choices and dramatic natural light.
Colour plays an integral role in making a powerful design statement. The door and window frames in this project, therefore, had to be black to complement the light-coloured interior palette designed by Viviane Khoury Interiors.
Complementing The Arches
Arches are a signature element of villa architecture throughout Arabian Ranches, lending the homes a rustic, Mediterranean charm. To uphold this theme while introducing a touch of modernity at the entrance, we installed Fusion arched double doors featuring frosted and fluted glass as the outer entrance. The combination of the rounded arch, glass, and black framing creates a striking first impression and sets the tone for the villa’s interior ambience.
An Entrance Inside An Entrance
The striking exterior front door is complemented by an additional element as one proceeds inward—a black Inotherm front entrance door. This door features fluted stripes, creating a visual connection with the outer doors. Flanking the Inotherm door are side lights that draw the eye toward the lightwell beyond, which is illuminated by a huge skylight. The installation of the skylight (or roof lantern) has significantly transformed the property, allowing natural light to flow into the home and illuminate spaces far from the exterior walls.

Space Creating Folding Doors
Throughout the various living spaces, fusion folding doors with dual-colored jet black and white frames have been employed to enhance the indoor-outdoor living experience originally envisioned for families residing in these homes. These folding doors completely retract to open up an exterior aperture, creating a sense of spaciousness while allowing increased natural light and airflow. While sliding doors could achieve a similar effect, they would largely obstruct at least half of the opening with glass, thereby diminishing the sense of openness.
